Applicants may choose to attend Core and category training programs offered by Purdue Pesticide Programs. Core and category training sessions are optional, day-long events with exams offered at the end of their respective training days. Participate in initial training sessions designed to help you prepare for Core and category certification exams, which are given immediately at the conclusion of their respective training days. Training programs begin at 8:30 am EST and typically conclude at 3-4 pm. Examination times vary from 1-2 hours, so plan on a full day. Remember to bring a single-function calculator and government-issued photo identification (e.g., driver’s license) with you, to the program.
The Pest Management and Lawn Maintenance workshop is a two-day, hands-on program designed to introduce lawn care operators to the fundamentals of turfgrass growth, fertility, and weed management, and the use and calibration of application equipment. Participation in the workshop meets the State Chemist’s lawn care experience requirement towards certification in Category 3b. This program fills up quickly, so sign up early.
The Category 7b Termite Control workshop is a two-day, hands-on program designed to introduce termite control operators to the fundamentals of wood destroying pest identification and biology, pest inspection and reporting, treatment techniques on common foundation types, and the use and calibration of application equipment. Participation in the workshop is a requirement for all for-hire, termite control operators.
